About the Super Lawyers Selection Process
The Super Lawyers selection process is a rigorous, multi-step evaluation designed to recognize outstanding attorneys in each state. The evaluations begin with peer nominations and independent research by the Super Lawyers research team, who identify candidates based on their awards, verdicts, certifications, professional activity, and other achievements. A blue ribbon panel then evaluates the attorneys with the highest scores, and the panel’s attorneys review their peers within the same practice area. The panel also compares candidates within four firm-size categories to better ensure fairness. Before publishing each year’s list, Super Lawyers checks each lawyer’s standing with licensing authorities and conducts a final check for any professional concerns. Ultimately, only 5 percent of attorneys in each state earn the distinction of Super Lawyers.
